Created after winning Best Director at the Silver Sound Showdown, Paper Heart explores the world of wheatpaste street art by placing the lead singer of Blood and Glass across the walls of Brooklyn. A dark, imaginative music video built around isolation, self-expression, and surreal visual storytelling.

Scouted.
Sized.

The concept took shape in the commute between Thai Town and Little Tokyo. Moving through the Arts District each day, surrounded by street art, the idea emerged as a character that could live on the walls. That vision carried from Los Angeles to New York, my first time directing there. Shot on location across Brooklyn, New York.

Measured.
Mixed.

Shot on location in Brooklyn, the film blends live action with a handcrafted visual language inspired by wheatpaste and street art. Practical elements and in-camera work were combined with animation and compositing to create a world that feels both physical and imagined.

Pasted.
Cured.

Directed end-to-end. From concept through final frame, the film was built as a unified vision. Early sketches and storyboards established the tone and pacing, allowing production to move quickly while protecting the clarity of the narrative. Specialists were brought in for color and cinematography, but always in service of a single direction.

A World
on the
Walls

The concept was simple. A character that exists as an image, repeated and recontextualized across the city. Each placement becomes a moment. Each surface, a stage. A portrait of isolation and identity, built from fragments.

The
Clean
Hit.

Flying to New York, working with a new crew, and pulling off something at this scale was a step up. A different pace, a different energy, and a production that demanded more. It came together through trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to getting it right.

Against
the
Elements

Post-production brought the piece into focus. Compositing, animation, and edit were used to unify the live action and illustrated elements into a single language. Built to hold together. Built to last once it was out in the world.

Beyond the film, I partnered with the band to develop the full album artwork system. Vinyl, CD, and digital assets were designed as a cohesive extension of the visual language. Typography, texture, and composition all stayed rooted in the tone of the record.
