Disney's Haunted Mansion
Title Design
Brought in by Elastic, I was the lead 2D animator and compositor on the intro title sequence for Disney's Haunted Mansion, working from first concept through final delivery. Working through an ACES color pipeline for DCP delivery, many rounds of revision, and the particular pressure of a theatrical release — every frame is the first thing an audience sees. Not something I take lightly.
Opening
Atmosphere
No dialogue, just music and tone — titles playing over picture, tracked and rotoscoped to move behind objects in frame. The craft is in making that invisible.
Typography
in Motion
Type that breathes and moves with intention, but never pulls focus from the atmosphere it lives inside. Cinematic without becoming a distraction.
ACES and
Transparency
Small errors become large problems at theatrical scale. The goal is always to make the difficult look effortless. That's the job.
Revision and
Refinement
Slight shifts in pacing, timing, and texture can completely change how a sequence feels. Many rounds before everything clicked. The final result feels inevitable. That's how you know it's done.
Why Title
Design Matters
Filmmaking, design, and animation in the same frame — with a deep history in Hollywood, from Saul Bass onward. One of the rare places where graphic design can shape the identity of an entire film. That lineage matters to me.
